CAFE DESIGN
Design space: First Floor
Location: IFL, Cambodia
Status: Conceptual
The design goal is to archive a spacious, clean and tropical vibe while being seated indoors. During this design, there were many challenges one of the main issues was the actual building supporting structures (Columns) is not rigid enough to support the added weight renovation on the first floor. Therefore additional supporting columns needed on the ground floor to be able to handle the additional weight compressing from the first floor.

From the ground up, this project, the goal is to archive a minimal, abstract, dark yet glowing and clean display of Japanese culture and easy to maintain. Out of these 3 final concepts designed, the chosen design was the (Wave Facade) as it is the closest design to the requirement of the client. The idea of the chosen design came from a combination of 3-dimensional paintings and numerous mountain backdrops in the country of Bhutan. Each wave line is placed and cut at a specific point of the timber plank and combined to create the overall wave facade. This project also has won the award of "Best Leisure Interior Cambodia" creating an inviting and cosy vibe.
